Okay Westport, you're pretty cool

Twas Thanksgiving weekend (Canadian) and my family drove down to CT to visit my brother. We rented a house that was decorated very cottagey, sort of boho chic with Buddahs, healing crystals and a gorgeous vintage sofette. My description doesn't do it justice, but then again I'm not an interior decorator. I'm digressing.

My mother, who had planned the entire trip, was raving about the shopping. To be honest, I didn't believe her at first seeing as our cute little home-away-from home was in the middle of a ravine. None the less we hopped in the car and low and behold there was a mini boutique village. There was Tiffany & Co. etc, but the stores that I loved were new to me. The first store was Lucy's Answers and it had an amazing nordic print sweater poncho and a huge collection of DVF pieces including a pair of 5" black suede Zia heels that I fell in love with. Because it was my first shop I said I'd come back, but of course spent the next four hours in another new fav store LF until all the shops were closed. I'll have to post some pictures or something but I came home with some awesome vintage renewal items by One of a Kind including a knit skirt and zippered sleeveless hoodie. I also picked up some shirts, pair of boots, a gorgeous leather fringe necklace and silver dagger earrings.
Anyways, I was thinking about the poncho and shoes tonight and thought I'd share. If you're ever in Westport, Connecticut be sure to head into town. They have a great Frozen Yoghurt shop too.

LF has several locations including Soho, the store is wicked; it reminds me of Lavish and Squalor (Toronto) but only for girls and more clothes. I'd say it is currently my favourite store.

Obsession of the month

Alber Elbaz has created a femme fatale collection while going for a minimal but flattering look. The show had model's donning cleopatra inspired wigs, and gorgeous tribal statement jewellery. The shoes were phenomenal and despite their out of the ordinary cut, these asymmetrical pumps are totally wearable and totally sexy.

On a personal note...

Okay, so a while back I was on a hunt for over the knee, thigh high boots. Determined I would find my dream boots for fall.

I called a shoe store which shall remain anonymous and described the boots i envisioned. The man on the opposite end of the line replied,

"Oh. You mean hooker boots? No, we don't carry those kinds of boots." -click.

I hate to say I told you so, but...

I love shoes, so SHOE-T me!

I apologize in advance for the extreme drooling that may occur while viewing this slide show. I would recomend sitting down before watching, and also hiding your credit card asap! (Unless of course you are blessed to dress in such fine footwear- go get em!)

Some fabulous footwear, the kind that makes traffic stop, grabs attention and gets you the jealous cut-eye from the other ladies who decided to stick to the casual black pump. Score!

Theres no man like Christian

I stare at the ridged escalator steps, ascend-collapse-and disapear one by one until they turn marble so clean that the reflected light creates this magnificant glow upon my face. My view grows, only to display the largest and most delicately placed collection of shoes I have ever seen. I inhale deeply, and exhale as I make my way into Berdorf Goodman's ladies shoe section. I only had to lift my gaze ever so slightly before I found my true love, Christian Louboutin's collection. Louboutin's signature red sole has honoured the feet of the royals, celebrities, socialites and ladies who really know how to make sacrifices or girls who beg their parents raw. But what is it that attracts me to his collection?
When I fall in love with a shoe, dress or other tangible item, I poor my love out to it or whomever happens to be with me. But when I see the blood red sole, golden signature and heel that ascends no less than five inches, my breaths become shallow and my heart melts the way it should in true love. Why? Because it is just so simple. Simply perfect.
The perfect cut, hidden stich, exquiste selection of necessary colours that tightens the bow to every outfit.
I have spent years comparing pumps that meet my expectations, in Paris, New York and at Holts on Bloor there seems to be one man able to fulfill my desires.
Monsieur Christian Louboutin, merci merci merci.
