A spring trend: Flatforms

Love or leave...

I can't quite decide how I feel about these... Nonetheless this is a trend for spring and they certainly look very comfortable. I think I would prefer a wedge or platform heel to these.
DG/4/2011: the more I come back to this post, the more I realize that I really, really do not like this trend.

Tommy Ton Plays "Wing Man" @ Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

It's getting close to that time of year again. Sometimes noted as the best day for males and the worst day for women. Regardless of your gender, you can't deny that these ladies are gorgeous, and the costumes are absolutely incredible.

Karl Calls for Clogs

The Chanel show today was magical, and the runway took the shape of a forest with young maidens strolling through. Absolutely fairytale inspired.

The collection is soft and beautifully feminine, and reminds me of a fashion savvy Little bo-peep.

While Karl says its "5 o'clog," the clog look hasn't warmed up to me quite yet.

Ruff'n it in Paris

Ruffles, ruffles, ruffles. They are on every runway in Paris for RTW spring 2010.

Whether it be the final touch, or the entire outfit, you can definitely count on seeing more and more of this trend.

Other looks for spring include sheers, military, ladylike, brights and minimals!

Warning: if you can't dress well, do not buy these.

Ray Ban's Clubmaster sunglasses are a different kind of cool and have been seen on some of the industry's most fashionable. Celebs have caught on, but only because their stylists have told them too. (perhaps a little harsh, but true for the most part.)

Cut-outs, tattered denim, sheers, lace and fringe. You can incorporate the trends for casual and formal outfits. It is all about taking grunge and disorganized and manipulating it into a beautiful, planned mess.

STYLE PANDEMIC: Balmainia

I have caught the Balmain buzz and I simply can't contain my symptoms including euphoria, mania and an unexplainable desire to find Christophe Decarnin and bow. Overreaction? Mais non, open your eyes and ears and you will come to notice (if you already haven't) the incredible buzz this french designer has created for Balmain. He has created a new edgy, elegant and ultimately sexy collection of denims, structured shoulders and glitzy form fitted dresses. His use of denim consists of acid wash and distressed straight leggers that are careful not to draw the attention away from the sgt. pepperesque military blazers that have come to be a staple item for Balmain.
Balmain's signature is placed an almost every piece- the winged and structured shoulder. Whether its on a blazer, coat or evening cocktail dress, Christophe has created a recognizable look that has been everything but ignored.

This Balmainia is extremely contagious and mark my words it will be the best stylebug to be bitten with not only this year, but for many to come.

One Sleeved Wonders

Winter has passed and designers are ripping their sleeves off and baring an arm to celebrate spring's arrival! - Literally!

ONE sleeve is a look of the moment and can be seen in collections by Michael Kors, House of Holland, Givenchy, Hérmes, Costume Nationale, Hérve Léger and so forth. Designers seem to be ridding their winterous cabin fever by baring one arm just to tease us as we await the summer heat so we can bring on the minis sans tights. These solo-sleeved looks are playful, yet difficult to perfect. Some critics of this style feel it looks as if the designer simply ran out of fabric or time to finish the dress. Fair enough I suppose, however style.com reports demonstrates how most designers surpass this critique by ensuring the sleeve that remains is strong and structured.

Solids are boring, shake things up with edgy graphic print attire. Not just your accessories, I am talking the fundamentals: pants, coats, shirts, and oh yes, even shoes. This is a phenomenal look to apply to your office wear to give you the perfect balance between fashionably edgy and seriously sophisticated. We’re living in a time where tired fashion rules are bending and breaking, (CAUTION: must be fashion savvy)  and prints have taken over and are even coming together, making what used to clash- match!

Dries Van Noten's spring 09 collection is a graphic example.

Oh and I must share this unbelievable (and quite entrancing) leather necklace below! Its by Mike and Maaike, and is in Elle magazine's style report under Hi-Def prints! I love this style, I actually tried on a stellar top at Lavish & Squalor that was totally hi-def print. (I have already promised myself to pick it up on my next visit!)  

I literally stared at this for twenty minutes trying to figure out if it was a legitimate item or if it was just superimposed! It's real, and its totally cool.
