Damn! Balmain's Christophe Decarnin presented a collection sexy punk rock looks that were shredded, ripped, studded and safety-pinned galore. Leather everything, denim cutoffs and torn fishnets.

Drowning in Denim

Arguably the most staple piece in history has reappeared as a statement piece for spring 2009. Denim has yet again emerged not only in jeans, but as tops, jumpers, dresses, vests and suits. Pairing denim with leather is also a popular vision shared by many designers including Givenchy (the infamous leather/denim chaps) and Alexander Wang. 

Off the runway, jean jackets are more prevalent than in recent years and is thrown over summer dresses for a perfectly casual but cute day-time outfit.

I am totally for this trend to re-emerge. It’s fascinating how cyclical the fashion world is. Vintage, 60s,70s? Love it.
