Less than twelve hours from now, some of Canada’s top “Under 25” designers will be showcasing their dynamic denim creations at the LG Denim DIY provincial finals. Decked out in all submitted designs, long and lean models will be parading before a panel of industry experts. The judges will then select one talented, young, hardworking designer to represent Ontario in the national finals in mid-march. The designer that is crowned national denim champion will win the grand prize of a $5,000 fashion endowment from LG, and of course province to province (well earned) bragging rights!
After some serious snooping through the LG Denim DIY Contest Facebook group, I can barely contain my excitement for tomorrow’s event! The photos feature several contestants hard at work at their sewing machines carefully piecing fabric together and finalizing their masterpieces. The photos only represent the tip of the iceberg in producing a slight idea of the amount of dedication, creativity and hard work that the contestants have shown, all building up towards the big day.
The LG Denim DIY Contest will feature student designers from several Ontario based school such as George Brown College, Humber College and Ryerson University, all of whom are working tremendously hard to break into the fashion industry.
Join the excitement by supporting Ontario’s finest denim designers! I’m sure it won’t be long before they are picking up their patterns and jet-setting around the fashion globe!
